The Ionian University NOC was created in the framework of the EPEAEK programme of the 1st Community Support Framework on network activities. The Ionian University is participating in the EPEAEK programme on networks, aiming at creating an advanced voice a nd data network that will cover all of the University’s educational and administrational activities.
The four Departments are housed in buildings scattered in the city of Corfu, while the Governing Committee is based in Athens. The use of a sophisticated and modern network plays an important role in the organisation of the University on one hand (admi nistration, secretariats and libraries) and in the communication of the entire academic community on the other, connecting them with other academic institutions and information sources both in the country and abroad. The NOC’s objective is to initially develop and then run and maintain an integrated voice and data network for the Ionian University. With the development of proper applications and providing support for network-oriented issues to all members of the ac ademic community, the NOC aims at making the use of the network more effective and at introducing new technology in the domains of administration and teaching in the Ionian University. |
