Department of Music Studies
The Department of Music Studies opened for the first time in the academic year 1992-1993.
The objective of the Department of Music Studies is to provide high standard theoretical and practical training for students of music. This involves the cultivation of musical skills and musical insight, the acquisition of broad experience in European music, traditional Greek music and music technology as well as familiarisation with the techniques employed in producing artistic and educational projects.
The aims of the program of studies are:
Studies are expected to be completed in eight semesters. The newly-formed Department of Music Studies has at present a collection of 750 books from purchases and donations. It has 72 journals, which were a donation. It also has in its collection approximately 1081 pieces of sheet music of Greek and foreign composers.
Infrastructure The DepatmentÃs equipment includes: Recording studio comprising 16 channels in conjuction with 3 Macintosh computers and the same number of sound units and control panels.
Lecture Hall The Lecture Hall contains a complete CD stereophonic centre, a digital tape-recorder DAT, cassette-recorder, record-player and amplifier, all with remote control and in compination with the simultaneous projection of slides or computer sceen (screen 2x2).
The libraries of all departments are open throughout the academic year from 8.00 am to 2.30 pm.
